directions from san diego border to tijuana international airport
Both the I-5 south and the I-805 south will take you to San Ysidro border crossing . The I-805 south will merge with the I-5 south about 1 mile north of the San Ysidro border crossing.
At
the border crossing, drive across and pay attention to the arrow lights, as
shown in this image. Red means, pull over and go through a vehicle inspection
in Mexico. Green means go. But sometimes
you will still be pulled over for a vehicle inspection even if you get a
green light.
Once you drive thorugh this border crossing area, keep driving forward and stay on the far right lane and watch out for a freeway-type sign that reads AEROPUERTO.
There will be road signs for the airport of Tijuana. The signs are not well maintained. So you need to keep looking for them. If you get lost, do as Mexicans do, ask for directions.
If
you follow all airport signs, you will drive through Zona Rio on Paseo de Los Heros street.
When you see a Cuauhtemock statue at a turn around, make a left turn at this
traffic circle. You will find another aeropuerto sign that will take you to Bulevard Aeropuerto.
Keep driving on this road and the airport of Tijuana will be on your right
side.
Again, it is a lot easier to get to the airport of Tijuana through Otay Mesa border crossing.
